Problem:
I'm unable to connect to FTP after the changes on 1/4/07. What do I need to do
to get connected again?
Solution:
Now that unsecure FTP is no longer allowed, all connections must use Secure
FTP. This means that browser-based FTP and FTP programs that don't support a
Secure FTP connection will no longer be valid means of connecting to transfer
files on the NC State system. For more information on this change, please
visit:

Browser-based FTP and versions of Dreamweaver prior to MX 2004 do not support
secure FTP.
To connect via WinSCP, a freeware FTP program which supports secure FTP, head
to:
http://help.ncsu.edu/helpcd/2007/software/winSCP.html
To connect via Fugu, a freeware FTP/SCP program for Mac OS X, head to:
http://help.ncsu.edu/helpcd/2007/software/fugu.html
A download link is provided, as well as setup instructions.
For users using Dreamweaver MX 2004 or Dreamweaver 8, the instructions below
will allow you to connect using Secure FTP:
1. Go to the Site menu.
2. Select "Manage Sites."
3. Select your site, and click Edit.
4. Go to the Advanced tab.
5. Select Remote Info from the list on the left.
6. Make sure that the option for "Use Secure FTP (SFTP)" is checked.
7. Click OK to save your settings.
After that you should be able to connect using Dreamweaver again.
