This is the central page for accessing all of the free software on this CD. Each piece of software has its own page explaining in detail how to install and use it. Always remember to read the installation instructions before trying to install the software, or you may miss an important step along the way.

Software for Microsoft Windows
- Symantec AntiVirus - NC State's chosen antivirus software for Windows and Mac. Licensed for use by only NC State University students, faculty and staff. Do not distribute.
- Microsoft Windows Defender (link connects to the Internet) - A program to combat spyware threats, free of charge from Microsoft for all Windows users.
- Spybot: Search & Destroy - Another program to combat spyware and adware.
- Mozilla Firefox - A popular alternative web browser.
- Mozilla Thunderbird - A popular open source mail application.
- PuTTY - A terminal program for Windows used to access the Unity system from any location. PuTTY replaces the retired Telnet application.
- WinSCP - An FTP program for securely transferring files from your computer. WinSCP replaces other insecure FTP programs.
